Yo Yo Dieting

Yo-yo dieting or yo-yo effect, also known as weight cycling, is a term “yo-yo dieting” coined by Kelly D. Brownell at Yale University, in reference to the cyclical loss and gain of weight, resembling the up-down motion of a yo-yo. In this process, the dieter is initially successful in the pursuit of weight loss but is unsuccessful in maintaining the loss long-term and begins to gain the weight back. The dieter then seeks to lose the regained weight, and the cycle begins again. Yo-yo dieting or yo-yo effect, also known as weight cycling, is a term “yo-yo dieting” coined by Kelly D. Yes, there are absolutely weight loss solutions that have a set amount of time attached to them. But that doesn’t mean you hop back in line at the drive-thru as soon as your program ends. To find real success in weight loss, it takes a commitment to change the lifestyle that was kind enough to bring you that extra weight in the first place.

A diet where you completely cut carbs or something silly like that is not something that you will be able to sustain for a lifetime. Whereas something like Carb Cycling is a different story. You just need to find something that will work for you and that you can honestly see yourself doing long term.

The term “I’m on a diet” no longer applies.

You are changing your lifestyle. And you will reap the benefits for years to come.
